Theodosia’s Inferno specializes in couture shoes made in-house from rare textiles, quality leathers, antique trims and laces, and carved wood heels. Using historical and modern shoe-making methods, both couture costume style and bespoke hand welted shoes are available.
The gift of truly valuing the object you wear is slowly being lost in the modern world. Color and beauty are disappearing as plastic molds and factory made objects take their place. Historically, shoes had many hours put into the quality and design. The rarity of an object made it more precious, therefore more care was put into its longevity. It is the mission of the atelier to sustain the concept of quality over quantity. To offer shoes that can be treasured and worn for decades, and can be customized to the clients fantasy.
Hand welted shoes have a thick leather interior(insole) which is carved and stitched by hand to the uppers as well as the sole of the shoe. Hand welting is one of the higher quality shoe-making methods, which yields a product that can last a lifetime and soles which are easily repaired, allowing for shoes to be worn year after year. The stitched leather sole/insole allows for less adhesives and plastics to be used, creating a more ecologically friendly product.

Located in the forests of northern Mississippi, Theodosia's Inferno is the atelier belonging to designer/cobbler Zoe Maya Francis.
